The head of Toyota showed a master class in drifting

Toyota Motor CEO Akio Toyoda demonstrated skills in skid control. Thus, the grandson of the founder of the company promoted the Toyota Gazoo Racing factory team.

After taking office as president of Toyota Motor in 2009, Akio Toyoda promised to make the company’s cars more driver-driven. Since then, Toyota has created a line of sports models under the GR designation, one of which is the GR Yaris hatchback.

The three-door is equipped with a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, 6-speed “mechanics” and an all-wheel drive system. The output of the unit is 260 hp. and 360 Nm. From standstill to 100 km / h, the hot hatch accelerates in 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km / h.

However, Akio Toyoda arranged an advertising drift not on the “civilian” version of the model, but on the racing one. Such vehicles should compete in the 2022 World Rally Championship and help cement Toyota’s success in motorsport. So, in 2021, the Toyota Gazoo Racing team won the constructors’ cup in the WRC, and Sebastian Ogier and Julien Ingrassia became eight-time WRC champions.

In addition, the Toyota Yaris has been declared the “Car of the Year 2021” in Europe.
