In honor of the tenth anniversary of the 4L International festival dedicated to the iconic Renault 4, the manufacturer has created an electric prototype on the basis of a rare modification in the back of a convertible.
The concept was developed in cooperation with units of Renault Classic and Renault Design, with assistance from the restoration workshop of Melun Retro Design, which is engaged in recovery of automobiles Alpine, Citroen, Peugeot and Renault. The basis of the prototype went convertible Renault 4, which was released in a limited edition of only 600 pieces and was designed for fans of a beach holiday.
Despite the resemblance, the prototype still got some distinctive features. Power convertible closed grille, made of white plastic and two-tone interior. In the Luggage compartment, where, perhaps, put the battery or motor, there lies a white wicker basket, fastened with leather straps.
As the power plant used the motor from the Renault Twizy. What kind of modification became the basis of this prototype, the company said, but in standard tiny the car is available in two versions: with a capacity of 5 and 17 horsepower. The first option is equipped with a battery capacity of 6.1 kilowatt-hour and can accelerate to 45 miles per hour. More productive “by Twizy” capable of speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour.
Compact city Renault 4 was produced from 1961 to 1994. This is the first front-wheel drive model of the company, and at the same time and the most popular French car: for all time produced more than eight million copies, and production has been established in 28 countries, and has sold the Quartet in more than a hundred different markets.
