THE KIA Rio family has undergone modernization in America


Kia Rio sedan and hatchback for the US market were updated according to the patterns of the global five-door Rio YB, introduced in may. First, the design of the “tiger nose” and both bumpers has been changed. Secondly, the diagonal of the Central display has been increased from seven to eight inches, and the media center has received wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Third, a technology package has been introduced and a set of Drive Wise assistance systems has been expanded.

The front bumper, being integrated with the grille, has been replaced with a more aggressive design with a mesh air intake. The reform did not affect the dimensions: 4384x1725x1450 mm, base – 2581.

The new rear bumper is equipped with similar air ducts and a chrome strip. The $1,800 technology package brings the base sedan led headlights, push-button start, climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels, Sirius satellite radio and an improved screen in the tidy.

The Rio hatchback differs from its European counterpart only in orange lights in the headlights and the absence of a fin antenna on the roof.

New features of Drive Wise include frontal collision prevention with pedestrian detection and lane keeping assistant. Both Rys are still equipped only with the 1.6 naturally aspirated petrol engine (122 HP, 152 Nm), CVT and front-wheel drive. The initial sedan went up by $200 (to $16,050). The five-door model added the same amount and is estimated at $16,990. From January to November, Americans bought 21,875 Rio, and for the whole of 2019-24,961.
