Bugatti has posted on Instagram a dozen stylish black and white postcards featuring the La Voiture Noire hypercar: a one-of-a-kind car poses against different spectacular urban backgrounds. The caption to the last picture in the cycle says something is about to happen on May 31st. Obviously, this is how the manufacturer revealed the date of the premiere.
Strictly speaking, the Bugatti La Voiture Noire (“Black Car”) debuted back in the spring of 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. True, soon after the show, the company admitted that only a model driven by an electric motor was brought to the exhibition, and it would take about two and a half years to build a real car. It was only last month that car hunters first spotted it during road tests. In the spy shots, the coupe looks completely finished, and adding two and two, we can most likely assume that on the last day of spring Bugatti will declassify the final version.
La Voiture Noire is another Chiron derivative, but very special – even against the background of such small-scale products as Divo or Centodieci. The models retained the family W16, but at the same time they built an original exhaust system with six tailpipes, and significantly redesigned the body and lighting equipment. The salon is still classified. The year before last, it was reported that a one-off “Black Car”, including taxes, would cost a mysterious customer 16.5 million euros, which automatically makes this coupe the most expensive new car in the world.
