At the Shanghai Auto Show, Wuling Motors unveiled its first electric convertible, the Wuling Mini EV Cabrio. The novelty is built on the basis of a three-door Hongguang Mini EV. According to Autohome, the prototype will receive a production version in the future.
The machine was developed by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture. The two-seater has a folding soft top, retractable door handles, LED headlights and decorative door strips.
The cabin has two color displays and a two-spoke steering wheel. The electric car is equipped with safety arches. ABS, brake force distribution, electric power steering, pedestrian recognition, electronic parking brake and parking sensors. The technical characteristics of the novelty are still kept secret.
Chinese small electric car Wuling Hongguang MINI EV was launched on the PRC market in May 2020. The 4-seater, 2917 mm long, equipped with a 20-horsepower engine, quickly became the leader among all-electric vehicles in the country.
The Wuling Hongguang MINI EV sold 25,788 units in January 2021, nearly double that of the Tesla Model 3, which sold 13,843 units in the same month, according to the CPCA. In China, prices for a small electric car start at about 29 thousand yuan, which is equivalent to about € 3.8 thousand.
