The most popular electric vehicles in Europe became Tesla


Analytical Agency JATO Dynamics has published data for European new car sales for September and nine months of the current year. According to the report, last month were sold 1.28 million cars, and the most popular models were Volkswagen Golf and Opel Corsa. While the Tesla Model 3 won first place in the rating of electric cars, and in the General list – 11-E.

In September 2019, the European market grew by 14.4 percent compared to the same period in 2018, but in annual terms declined by 1.6 percent. While in Germany alone recorded a growth of 22.4 percent to 245 thousand vehicles.

The most popular among Europeans use cars with petrol engines: their share in September of this year amounted to 59 percent and the previous year’s 58 percent. Followed by diesel (29 and 33 per cent in 2019 and 2018 respectively) and the “green” machines. In a recent list included conventional and rechargeable hybrids and electric cars. Classification by market segment shows that the largest share of the market is shared between the crossovers (39.2 percent), subcompact model (18.9%), compacts (17.3%), sitkari (7.5 percent) and midsize cars like the BMW 3 Series (7.1 percent). The share of luxury automobiles – 0.2%.


The Top 25 best-selling European models included the Volkswagen Golf, Opel Corsa, Renault Clio, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Ford Fiesta. Completing the list of Volkswagen Polo, Renault Duster, Hyundai Tucson, BMW 3 Series and Ford Kuga.
