International motor show (IAA), which from 1951 was held in Frankfurt-on-main, will move to another city. This is stated in the official statement of the German Association of the automotive industry of Germany (VDA), which is the organizer of the exhibition.
VDA thanked the Frankfurt am main for “these long years, very good relations and trust” and now looking for a new platform for the next motor show, which will take place in fall 2021.
While the Frankfurt authorities had sent a request for the upcoming motor show, however it wasn’t in the final shortlist.
“Ideas and concepts of Frankfurt were very impressive. However, after careful analysis of all factors it was decided to hold the exhibition in another place,” – noted in VDA.
Now among the main candidates, the organization is considering Berlin, Hamburg or Munich. Your application for the new dealership also sent Cologne, Stuttgart and Hanover, but they were removed from the list of finalists.
It should be noted that recently there has been a significant decline in the interest of large automotive stores. Many companies refuse to participate in a large-scale international exhibitions, preferring to organize their own events.
In addition, some motor show beginning to change its usual format. For example, the organizers of the North American international auto show (NAIAS), also known as the Detroit auto show, this year decided to move the exhibition from January to June. Now it will show mainly in the open air performances, concerts, test drives, seminars and entertainment programs for children. It is assumed that the change of concept will be able to return the NAIAS.
