Shortly after the Rimac-Bugatti merger was announced, Mate Rimak appeared at Monterey Car Week and shared some interesting information with Manny Khoshbin during his time at the event.
While some may know Khoshbin best through his YouTube channel, he is a real estate tycoon who owns many rare Bugatti models and is one of the automaker’s most important clients. So when he asked Mate when we can expect to hear about the next Bugatti, the founder of the Croatian brand was quick to give some details.
According to Mate, Bugatti’s most loyal customers are likely to find out about the next Bugatti in the next 12 months, before it goes public in about three years. Mate adds that the company has started from scratch with this new model, indicating that it will have nothing to do with the Chiron. Work on the car has been going on for over a year.
“There is so much you can do with this brand,” a young entrepreneur said earlier this week. “Maybe an SUV, a coupe with a long hood, or something completely insane that no one else thinks about.”
Given Rimac’s exclusive focus on all-electric powertrains, it will be interesting to see if its merger with Bugatti marks the end of the famous 8.0-liter W16 four-cylinder used in the Veyron and Chiron.
