Today we have a new Citroen C4 on a test drive, a car in which the French have managed to fit a lot of organic design approach into a very standard car in its meaning. There is no extravagance, expression and glamour here, as in DS4, there is nothing at all that can be sharply criticized, everything is fresh and refined, practical, but at the same time without frills.

Design and dimensions of Citroen C4 2021

The front part of the car reminded us of the mouth of a predator — a very original and bold design, which most likely will not be to everyone’s taste. And in the rear part, the original shape of the taillights immediately catches the eye.

The length of the Citroen C4 2021 is 4 m. 35 cm, width 1 m. 83 cm, base 2 m. 67 cm. this means that it is longer than its direct competitors Peugeot 2008 and KIA Sportage, but much lower.

The clearance of the Citroen C4 is as much as 190 mm. – this is a good indicator for a car of this class.

Based on the above figures, it follows that the Citroen C4 2021 is not exactly a coupe-crossover, but rather a cross-hatchback — it has clearance and the body is not high.

Citroen C4 Interior

The Citroen C4 interior is filled with cool solutions, but also on a par with this there is modesty and even a little boredom.

The climate control unit uses physical buttons — this is convenient, but it may not appeal to fans of innovation.

The multimedia system looks the same as its predecessor, but there are still changes: it is not so slow, there are no familiar desktops, the interface does not look nice, but it is very convenient, besides the touch screen there are three physical control buttons.

Special attention in the Citroen C4 2021 cabin is paid to modern gadgets: several convenient niches for storing a smartphone, three USB outputs with the ability to connect to Apple Car Play or Android Auto, as well as a tablet stand for the front passenger.

Landing in the Citroen C4 cabin is like a passenger car and in our opinion it is more convenient than in a full-fledged crossover.

The steering wheel of the Citroen C4 2021 is good, heated, with physical buttons and their logical arrangement, and the skin is pleasant.

The dashboard cluster is small, but very concise and clear, the image is clear.

Separately, we want to note the heating of the entire windshield — a very convenient option.

The plastic on the doors is soft and pleasant, there are artificial leather inserts on the cards, and the upper part of the torpedo has a structure like polyurethane. The only place where hard plastic is used is the center console.

The front seats have no pronounced lateral support, but are very comfortable.

There is enough space in the back row, the legs do not rest against the front seats, but the ceiling is still low, the backs of the rear seats are not adjustable, but there is heating.

The trunk of the Citroen C4 is small, there are 380 liters, but it is deep and sheathed with high-quality material.

With noise insulation, the Citroen C4 2021 is also not easy: there is no noise from the suspension, despite the fact that there is a beam at the back, the interior is also well insulated from extraneous noise, but at speeds over 80 km / h the noise becomes audible well enough.

Drive Citroen C4 2021

The diesel engine carries very smoothly and linearly, 300 Nm of torque is more than enough, the reserve of traction is always present and there are no problems with overtaking.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h was 11 seconds. At first we were surprised by this result, because the engine here is quite powerful, but then we remembered that the AISIN 8-speed automatic works with it – reliable, but unhurried.

Suspension, steering and brakes Citroen C4

The suspension of the Citroen C4 is very soft and comfortable, and thanks to the hydraulic shock absorbers, deep pits or swells, the car passes very well.

We also really liked the steering in the Citroen C4 2021: sharp, the reactions on it are absolutely clear, the trajectory of the car is completely predictable.

Slowing down from 100 to 0 km / h took us 38 m. – a good result, about the same as classmates.

Citroen C4 is a very decent car, none of the competitors will be able to offer such a combination of a spacious interior, high-quality finishing materials and a clearance of 19 cm. It also has good steering, balanced suspension, excellent diesel engine. But it is also not devoid of disadvantages: noise insulation, ergonomics, multimedia system
