The company Suzuki is preparing to introduce a cross-version of the compact MPV Ertiga. A new modification has its own name, and sell it will be through a separate dealer network. The first crossover will be given to the Indians.
The compact MPV Ertiga, a new generation introduced last spring in Indonesia. This country became the first market for the model, it was expected that they first appear and cross version is a modification of the Indonesian division of Suzuki announced in January 2019. However, crossover makes its debut in India under a local brand Maruti Suzuki (standard van they sell in the fall of 2018): pictures of the new variant of Ertiga appeared in a publication GaadiWaadi.
Outwardly from the standard van with its “off-road” version is not only the presence of plastic bodywork on the perimeter of the body and roof rails, but the radiator grille, headlights, fog lamps design. Perhaps the novelty still increased ground clearance. In addition, the crossover has received its own name – on the boot door is the inscription emblazoned Ertiga label XL6. “Six” mentioned in the title is not accidental: the fact that initially Artiga has a seven-seat interior (2+3+2), whereas XL6 – six (2+2+2). In the interior of the cross surely there were other materials.
In India, XL6 is considered a “premium” model, Crossman will be sold through a separate dealer network of Maruti Suzuki company called Nexa. By the way, was caught by paparazzi car painted in the company colors Nexa – dark blue. In the line of Maruti Suzuki to the “premium” in the Indian market include Ciaz sedan, crossovers Ignis and S-Cross (in Ukraine – SX4), hatchback Baleno.
The engine went from standard compact MPV – XL6 will be offered with a petrol four-cylinder “aspirated” K15B 1.5 105 HP (138 Nm) that has a hybrid appendage in the form of a starter-generator, storing energy during braking. Engine combined with a five-speed “mechanics” or four-stage “automatic”. Regular Ertiga in India is still based on the 1.3 diesel (90 HP, also with a starter-generator) and 1.5 (95 HP), but they crossover not got. Drive standard compact MPV and cross-version, only front.
The official premiere of Maruti Suzuki XL6 will be in India on August 21. Obviously, the crossover will be more expensive than conventional Artige. Standard base compact MPV today is 745 000 rupees (10 $ 800 at the current exchange rate), fully loaded, will cost 1 120 689 rupees (16 $ 300 at the current exchange rate).
In Indonesia the cross-version should be available by the end of the year. Maybe then the car will start selling in other countries. By the way, in addition to conventional compact MPV, where they still sell “sportively” option. In India Ertiga Sport are not yet available.
New Suzuki crossover will not be superfluous, right?
