New generation luxury sedan, rumors of which simply overwhelm the network, may be the biggest technical breakthrough of the Bavarian brand.
According to a new report published by the automaker, the next generation BMW 7-Series will get a fully electric version. Information appeared a few months later, after another report, it became known that the automaker will abandon the powerful V12 and V8 in favor of a different hybrid variants.
All-electric 7-Series can get the name of i7, and its development is in full swing. According to 32cars.ru, the battery capacity may vary from 80 to 120 kW/h. Thus, the power reserve of new items on a single battery charge can be of the order of 700 km.
Although there is news that the luxury sedan of the BMW 7-Series could lose the most powerful engines, there is no doubt that the all-electric powerplant will easily fill that niche. The most powerful i7 processor will receive at least 650 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful sedans.
It is expected that the next generation BMW 7-Series 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine will be used in the hybrid modifications, the total output of which will amount to 560 HP of power and 800 Nm of torque.
BMW is actively working on electrification, preparing for the inevitable, but uncertain future EV. The next generation 7-Series could be on the market in 2-3 years, so in the near future, the company may present the first demonstration prototype of the new items. If BMW can match or surpass the performance of its vehicles with a petrol engine, the automaker should have no problems finding buyers.
