The Honda Passport TrailSport, presented just the day before, has already received a special version aimed at off-road enthusiasts – the Rugged Roads Project. The car was built in collaboration with an experienced traveler, the author of the JonDZ Adventuring YouTube channel, John Tuiko. The hardcore crossover will make its public debut at Overland Expo West, Arizona, September 24-26.
The complete list of the program of improvements includes almost two dozen items, including from the branded catalogs Honda R&D Custom and Honda Genuine Accessories. The Passport TrailSport Rugged Roads Project received black 18-inch rims with Firestone Destination A / T2 265/60 R18 off-road tires, a Jsport lift suspension kit with one and a half inches at the front and three-quarters of an inch at the rear, three-millimeter steel protection for the engine compartment and fuel tank, fender extensions, trailer hitch, custom towing eyes, Roofnest Sparrow XL roof tent.
This particular example of the crossover is just a “one-off” project, but at the same time it gives an idea of what future production models of the TrailSport line may become. The factory Passport Trailsport stands out mainly for its decor, but Honda promises to increase the off-road potential of such cars in the coming years, offering them more aggressive tires, increased ground clearance, retuned suspensions and four-wheel drive systems.
For the same Americans, who are ready to be satisfied with modifications exclusively in terms of styling, a package from Honda Performance Development, borrowed from the Ridgeline pickup truck, is already available: special grille and wheels, wheel arch extensions, nameplates and stickers. By the way, it is the Ridgeline, along with the large Pilot all-terrain vehicle, that is one of the most likely candidates to join the TrailSport family.
