Initially, the start of mass production of the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 was scheduled for March 2022. However, the leadership of the brand did not like something and the launch of the model on the market had to be postponed for three months, simultaneously correcting the shortcomings. Recently, Korean journalists managed to photograph an electric car on public roads as part of a road test.
As always, the model was covered with dense camouflage, which could not hide the dimensions of the car – it will become somewhat shorter than the Hyundai Elantra. According to preliminary data, the novelty will receive modified front and rear bumpers, which will increase the overall body length by 20 mm in comparison with the previous prototype Ioniq 6.
As for the technology, the new product will be built on the global modular e-GMP platform, which means that it will receive support for fast charging and a rather large range – in the region of 600 – 700 kilometers. In addition, the electric car will acquire all modern driver assistants, the latest multimedia system and a well-thought-out interior.
Note that a few weeks ago, Hyundai announced that the company intends to sell 160,000 of its all-electric cars in 2022, and by 2025, increase this number to 560,000 electric cars. According to experts, such optimism is provided by the brand with pre-orders for the new Ioniq 5, which will go on sale next year.
Of course, Hyundai will not stop at the production of city sedans. So, already in 2024, the Ioniq family of electric cars will be supplemented with the Ioniq 7 crossover.
