Not far from the Nürburgring race track, a prototype of the new generation BMW M2 high-performance coupe was spotted. The body of the novelty has received a large amount of disguise.
Judging by these “spy” photos of the updated version of the “charged” coupe, the BMW M2 has already received its serial appearance. Even though the body of the test car is covered with camouflage film, everything from the huge front brakes to the exhaust pipes suggests that this is the most powerful version of the updated “two”.
The heavy camouflage completely obscures the car’s design, but you can still see that the M2 has a different door handle design, with a funny fake white door handle sticker above it.
Notably, if you zoom in, you can see tiny rivets holding additional layers of camouflage around the C-pillar, presumably to better hide the curvature of the Hofmeister line. A subtle spoiler lip on the boot lid also indicates that this is not a regular version of the new 2 Series.
The Standard Coupé and its high-performance M2 counterpart will be the only models in the updated BMW 2 Series family to retain the rear-wheel-drive layout, as the 2 Series Active Tourer / Gran Coupe minivan is based on front-wheel drive architecture with optional xDrive all-wheel drive available as an option. >
It can be expected that the BMW M2 will have a 3.0-liter engine, which is also equipped with the new M4 Coupe. However, in this case, its power will be limited so as not to compete with the same M4. There were rumors that even in the basic configuration, the power will be over 400 horsepower.
The standard 2 Series Coupe could debut before the end of the year, so the M2 should be unveiled at some point in 2022.
