The new Mitsubishi ASX will turn into a Renault Captur

FineAuto

The compact crossover Mitsubishi ASX is preparing for a generational change. The Australian edition of The Drive reports that this will happen before the end of 2022, and the main change will be the transition of the model to the French Renault platform, the same on which the European Captur is based. Meanwhile, in at least one European country, Mitsubishi has already curtailed sales of the current ASX – the Czech portal Auto.cz reports that the model has disappeared from the list of brands available on the website.

The departure of the current generation model from the Czech market seems premature, since the new generation ASX has not yet been presented. In Ukraine, prices for the current ASX crossover start at $ 21,900.

The next ASX will be technically unified with the European Renault Captur, and the design is likely to be carried out with an eye to the 2016 Mitsubishi eX concept and is sustained in the brand’s current corporate style.

The transition to the French platform is due to the cost and time savings: the Japanese brand will not only be able to reduce the costs of developing and launching production of a new model (assembly is organized at the Renault plant), but will also simplify the certification process in Europe.

Although it is definitely an unfinished replica, I would be interested in contact details, anyway. Maybe this could be an interesting project.
