According to Motor.ru, Ford engineers continue to compare the upcoming Mustang model with competitors on the market.
Tests of the new generation Ford Mustang are in full swing, including comparative ones: in the summer of this year, in the hands of a factory test pilot of the Ford brand near the company’s headquarters in Dearborn, they noticed a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat model, and now the novelty has been compared with a Toyota Supra sports car … The new Mustang S650 is expected to hit the market from the 2023 model year, and until then, Ford is likely planning to do as much research as possible on all of its competitors.
So, in 2021, Mustang remained the only passenger car in the Ford brand lineup in the US market among many crossovers, SUVs, and pickups. It is known that in the seventh generation, the new Mustang will become a hybrid, so its 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo four and 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine will be electrified.
In addition, a fully electric modification of the machine is under development. The electric Ford Mustang coupe is expected to enter production in December 2028, replacing the seventh generation Mustang, which will thus be the last in the history of an ICE Mustang.
