Today we have the smallest crossover of the Nissan brand on a test drive. His appearance still causes controversy among motorists and experts: someone sees futurism, courage and recklessness, and someone sees an unsuccessful experiment with the appearance of a car. But in any case, he does not leave anyone indifferent and remains one of the sales leaders in his segment. As you might have guessed — we are testing the Nissan Juke 2021.

Dimensions and appearance of the Nissan Juke 2021

The new Nissan Juke has become a little more restrained than its predecessor, gained in weight and dimensions. The length of the car has increased by 75 mm., while the base has increased by as much as 100 mm., now the Juke is noticeably wider, higher and with all this, the clearance is 150 mm.

The Nissan Juke 2021 was built on the CMF-B modular platform, which just made it possible to make it bigger.

Compared to its predecessor, the new Nissan Juke looks much “prettier”, there is less extraordinary, courage and recklessness have been replaced by modesty and intelligence, the body lines have become more harmonious and smooth, but despite all these changes, the continuity of the old Nissan Juke is still guessed, which means that the new appearance will not only not scare away old fans of the brand, but will also win new ones.

Engine and dynamics of the new Nissan Juke

Our test copy is equipped with a 3-cylinder HR10DDT turbo engine with a volume of 1.0 liters. with a capacity of 114 hp and a torque of 180 Nm., which is quite modest even for such a small car, and considering that the maximum torque is available only from 2400 rpm, you should not expect intensive acceleration.

In practice, we get acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 12 s. – That’s right, not very fast. But when accelerating more than 100 km / h, the engine becomes really hard.

A 7-speed robotic gearbox works in tandem with the engine, we had no questions about it.

The declared fuel consumption in urban mode is 6.8 liters per 100 km., in practice, we got from 8 liters per 100 km., the engine is quite weak, so we constantly had to spin it up to high speeds.

Suspension and handling of Nissan Juke 2021

Engineers have worked very well on the energy intensity of the Nissan Juke 2021 suspension, and despite the fact that a beam is installed at the rear, on 19-inch wheels, on a short base – the Juke passes holes and bumps very well. Yes, it can not be called comfortable, but it is definitely better than the competitors. The only comment from us is that when passing road surges at a sufficiently high speed, sometimes a breakdown of the front shock absorbers occurs.

The handling of the new Nissan Juke is adequate, but mediocre, that is, everything is fine within the class, but I would like more. The car is maneuverable in the city, its turning diameter is only 10.6 m., the dimensions feel very good, visibility is also at a height. There are also no questions at high speeds, Juke holds the road very confidently.

In the cabin, the new Nissan Juke feels like a car of a higher class, it is more spacious in front and richer than you expect. The interior materials are not so premium, but due to the fact that many elements are sheathed with a soft leather substitute, it feels cozy and good. The front seats are very comfortable with good lateral support and an integrated headrest, like a sports car. And in turn, the speakers of the acoustic system are built into the headrests.

The multimedia system in the Nissan Juke 2021 is just good, everything is convenient, natural and familiar.

The manufacturer claims that for rear passengers, compared with its predecessor, there is more space by 60 mm. in length and by 10 mm. in height. Yes, there is more space, but the ceiling still presses and there is still not enough space for knees.

The trunk volume of the new Nissan Juke is 422 liters. – this is a lot for a car of this class, the floor is high, so there is no threshold and this is also a big plus.

The noise insulation of the Nissan Juke 2021 is average, but not bad, about the same as that of competitors.

The brakes of the Nissan Juke 2021 turned out to be very pleasant during normal operation, and when measuring the braking distance, we were pleasantly surprised: the deceleration to 0 km / h was 36 m. – this is an excellent result.

The Nissan Juke 2021 is a fairly pragmatic car that combines comfort, utility, and design, engineers have tried to create a sense of a finished space inside it, and if there were questions about this before, now it is essentially a car for the whole family and this is its huge plus, but we consider the engine to be a big minus – it will not suit everyone.
