Over the past year in Ukraine was about 160 thousand accidents, which injured more than 32 thousand people. These indicators entail socio-economic losses in the amount of UAH 68.9 billion, accounting for nearly 2% of GDP.
In order to reduce accidents on the roads of the country, the Government decided to accelerate the introduction of auto-commit violations of traffic rules, which is part of a state safety programme, the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine.
“We are introducing automatic commit violations of traffic rules. In test mode the system will start to work in March 2020. This has acquired automated data processing software and 30 the systems of automatic fixing of violations. All in all for the year 2020 on the state roads will be installed 250 of the systems,” – said the Minister of infrastructure Vladislav Crickley.
According to him, the Government plans to reduce the accident rate by 30%. That is why state security in the current year from the budget allocated 3.2 billion hryvnia. In addition to the introduction of a system of auto-commit violations, also provides for the introduction of new standards in the provision of pedestrian crossings, junctions and other objects.
“It is envisaged to build and equip 35 interchanges ring type, 20 split-level pedestrian crossings, 500 pedestrian crossings in locations with the greatest concentration of road accident, independent coverage of 500 pedestrian crossings. Will also be eliminated 16 places of concentration of road accident, installed road signs with lighting and lamps”,- said Crickley.
