One of 200 Ford RS200 rally cars built to homologate a Group B car of the International Rally Championship (WRC) will go under the hammer one of these days. Let’s see why it is so valuable.
Firstly, only 24 cars were released in the top version of Evolution. Each got round headlights, an air intake on the roof and a rear-mounted 2.1-liter turbo engine and roughly 600 horsepower. The transmission has a 5MKPP, and the drive, of course, is full. Torque sharing is assisted by three locking differentials, making the coupe a decent drifting car.
The engine underwent a complete restoration in the English studio Geoff Page Racing and since then has “reeled” less than 800 km of run. The body is also trimmed and re-painted, and the arches feature size 16 pre-fabricated Speedline alloy wheels wrapped in Falken FK451 245/45 tires.
In the restomod’s salon there are bucket chairs without adjustments, a fire extinguisher, a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in leather and a new dashboard, but there are no modern options for safety and comfort.
Currently the maximum bid is $ 285,000. The auction will close tomorrow.
