According to the Japanese edition BestCarWeb, the Suzuki Jimny SUV can get the same power unit as the European version of the Swift Sport model.
The Suzuki Jimny could have turned into a popular Japanese mini-SUV in the European market, but the lack of environmental compliance has put a big cross on these plans. At the same time, in the future, everything can change due to partnership with Toyota.
According to the Japanese edition BestCarWeb, the Suzuki Jimny SUV can get a power plant like the European Swift Sport. We are talking about a 129-horsepower “turbo four” of 1.4 liters and a 48-volt starter-generator with a capacity of 10 kW. Another hypothesis is that the Jimny for the European market could be equipped with Toyota’s THS-II hybrid system, centered around a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine from Yaris Hybrid.
However, so far all this information has not been supported by any evidence (other than the fact that the Suzuki and Toyota brands do cooperate). In fairness, it should be said that the Jimny SUV is still sold in Europe, but not as a passenger car, but as a commercial vehicle. Recall that in Ukraine the price for Suzuki Jimny starts at $ 22,300.
