As part of testing Toyota’s e-Palette platform, an incident involving a pedestrian occurred.
On Thursday, August 26, 2021, at about 2:00 pm, the Toyota e-Palette, a mobile vehicle used to provide mobility in the Athletic Village at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, collided with a visually impaired pedestrian who was about to cross the road at a pedestrian crossing. The company immediately rushed to comment on the incident.
“First, we would like to express our sincere apologies to the person who suffered as a result of this unfortunate collision, and we wish him a speedy recovery. We also apologize for the inconvenience caused to those who use our mobile cars in the Athletic Village, ”the brand said.
All e-Palette operations are currently suspended. The company is fully cooperating with the police to investigate the incident to determine the cause of the incident. In addition, Toyota is conducting its own thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.
