Toyota goes to the record

Toyota Motor intends to produce 800 thousand cars in January 2022 at its factories around the world – this will be a record for the Japanese brand. Reuters clarifies that the company is ramping up production to compensate for losses caused by a shortage of components, namely electronic components. Toyota predicts production of nine million vehicles for the fiscal year ending March 31.

A few days earlier, Toyota issued a statement about a shortage of parts, which forced the automaker to suspend assembly of cars in Japan in December, which will reduce the volume of production by 14 thousand units. Deliveries from factories in Malaysia and Vietnam, in turn, are still intermittent due to the pandemic.

Due to the reduced production volume, the most popular models of the brand were in short supply: for example, the demand for the Land Cruiser 300 significantly exceeds the supply – the line for SUVs lined up several years ahead. Already in September, the waiting period reached four years, and almost all orders fall on the “top” versions of the ZX and GR Sport, the assembly of which requires even more scarce components.
