Toyota Motor will unveil a new all-electric SUV at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show.
Technical details of the new product from Toyota have not been disclosed yet. At the moment, it is known that the car will belong to the segment of mid-size crossovers. The design of the electric car will be based on the e-TNGA architecture – an electrical modification of the global modular platform TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture).
Both platforms, as specified in Toyota, are flexible and versatile, which makes it possible to develop vehicles of different dimensions on the same basis, using common key components.
On the e-TNGA electric platform, electric vehicles of different classes and purposes can be created with front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or with an all-wheel drive system, with batteries of different capacities and electric motors of different powers. All details about Toyota’s new electric crossover will be revealed as part of its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show 2021. The Shanghai Motor Show will open to the general public from April 21-28, with press days scheduled for April 19-20, 2021.
