At the Los Angeles Auto Show, the debut of a new version of the third generation Toyota Tundra took place: if in September the Japanese brand only declassified a pickup with a large two-row cab, but now they have shown a variant with a short Double Cab. This car has four doors and two rows of seats, but the rear is shortened by 21 centimeters. But it has the most spacious cargo compartment, its internal length reaches 2.45 meters.
The new generation Tundra will appear in the showrooms of American dealers in December, and, most likely, in two versions at once, Double Cab and CrewMax. The short cab version presented in Los Angeles has different armrests and rear door handles, and the overall length of such a Tundra reaches 6.4 against. In the US, the pickup will be offered in simple trim levels SR, SR5 and Limited. There is only one engine: a 3.4-liter V6 petrol turbo engine with 394 horsepower in tandem with a ten-band automatic. Drive – rear or full with a reduction gear.
A “charged” version of the TRD Pro for a pickup with a short cab is not supposed to be, but a TRD Sport design package has been prepared for it with a different grille pattern and exterior mirror housings in body color.
As for the Tundra CrewMax, such a pickup is available not only with a V6, but also with a 443 horsepower i-Force Max gasoline-electric unit. It consists of a 3.4-liter gasoline “six” and an electric motor built in between the engine. The electric motor powers a battery located under the rear sofa, and one charge lasts for 29 kilometers when driving only on electric traction.
The cost of the third-generation Toyota Tundra has not yet been announced, however, according to forecasts, the model will cost from 36 thousand to 60 thousand dollars, while the pre-reform pickup can be purchased in the United States for 34 thousand dollars. For comparison, the closest competitors, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, cost from 33.5 thousand and 36.3 thousand dollars, respectively.
