A week after the appearance of the next spy shots of the new compact crossover, Toyota has circulated an official teaser of the new model ahead of its imminent premiere and has declassified the name under which the car will appear on the market: Aygo X, where X should be read as Cross.
The manufacturer also confirmed that the Aygo X is based on the GA-B platform – the same as that of the Yaris hatchback and its SUV derivative – Yaris Cross.
Toyota explained that while developing the Aygo X in Europe for European customers, the developers studied the current pace of urban and surrounding life, and also imagined how it could change in the future to create a compact crossover, unique for the A segment.
There are no other details besides the platform about Aygo X yet, but in terms of overall dimensions, the car will obviously become the most compact Toyota crossover in Europe. By its design, judging by the teaser, the novelty will almost completely repeat the concept Aygo X prologue, presented this spring, which received the same intricate taillights and “wing-like” head optics.
The official premiere of the novelty will take place in early November this year. Sales of the serial Toyota Aygo X in Europe may begin before the end of this year, and the production of a compact SUV will be set up at the brand’s Czech plant in Kolín.
