In January 2020, the company Toyota has reached the 15 million hybrid vehicles sold worldwide since first launching the Prius in 1997. In Europe the implementation of such machines has reached 2.8 million copies.
To date, the range of Toyota and Lexus include 44 models with a hybrid power plant, which are sold in more than 90 countries around the world. They include, for example, plug-in Toyota RAV4, Yaris, Corolla and others.
According to the automaker, hybrid technology Toyota, implemented on 44 models, has reduced CO2 emissions by more than 120 million tons worldwide.
In the summer of 2019 became aware of the company’s plans for the electrification of the model range in Europe, where half of the sales are hybrids. A full transition to electric propulsion will become possible after the Toyota will build a network of fast charging stations.
In addition, last year Toyota announced that it is beginning to test the first private electric vehicle with solar panels on the roof. Unlike the Prius, for which the solar panel is option, the novelty is able to add to the mileage of nearly 56 kilometers, not only to recharge the auxiliary device.
