Specialists of the Australian consulting agency Compare The Market have published an annual rating of automotive brands that interested Internet users in the past year. The experts compiled a list of brands based on Google searches in 154 countries. According to the study, Toyota became the most requested car company in the world in 2021. The Japanese brand turned out to be more popular than others in 47 countries. BMW and Mercedes-Benz were again in the top three.
Google users in 154 countries searched the Web for news about Toyota in 31 percent of cases. According to online inquiries, the brand became number one in 47 countries, including Japan, Australia, as well as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Thailand,, and several countries in Africa and South America. The experts named the debuts of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Toyota Corolla Cross, as well as the premiere of the first mass electric vehicle bZ4X, as the main reasons for the success. As in 2020, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are in the top three, becoming the most requested brands in 29 and 23 countries, respectively.
Next came Audi, which last year was the most popular brand among online searches in 11 countries.
Rounding out the top five Tesla, which for the first time was included in the rating of experts. Elon Musk’s company has become the most requested brand among Internet users in China, Hong Kong, Macau, as well as Singapore and Israel. Volkswagen, Mitsubishi and Alfa Romeo have worsened their positions.
