Many high-profile premieres in Shanghai have already been presented, but important news continues to arrive. On Tuesday, April 20, it became known that Toyota is going to be engaged in the production and sale of hybrid and all-electric pickups.
Previously, Toyota presented a separate sub-brand called BZ for environmentally friendly cars. It is not yet known what will be the case with pickups. Perhaps we will also have a separate sub-brand, or maybe the indexes indicating the version will receive the current Tacoma and Tundra models.
Some experts say that two options will be implemented at once. At the moment, there are not many electric pickups in the global automotive industry, but this strategy clearly falls into Toyota’s plan for the coming years.
The Japanese company intends to sell up to 70% of electrified cars by 2025.
By this time, 15 new cars should be added to the lineup at once.
Previously, Toyota presented the bZ4X concept car for the 2022 model year. The car received a rather interesting exterior, and also surprised by the location of the instrument panel in the cabin.
