Toyota Venza reached China

The facelifted Toyota Venza will go on sale in the Chinese market later this year.

The current Toyota Venza debuted last year. It is the American version of the Toyota Harrier crossover. And at the motor show in Guangzhou, a slightly different Venza was presented. This version is intended for the Chinese market and has its own characteristics. First of all – a different decoration of the front. So, the front fairing with a blind insert between the headlights and the extended “nose” made the crossover look similar to the Toyota GR Supra model.

The redesign is necessary to enable customers to differentiate between the Harrier and Venza crossovers, as both models will be on sale in the Chinese market. And if the Toyota Harrier produced by the FAW-Toyota JV looks almost the same as the global versions, then the Venza car produced by the rival GAC-Toyota has got a more sporty image here.

However, the interior of the two crossovers is exactly the same. At the same time, the models acquired virtual instruments (with a 12.3-inch display), which are offered for the richest version, while in Japan and America Harrier / Venza has only analog scales with a central screen. Plus, another climate control panel was installed on the novelty, into which a small display is embedded to display the operating mode.

The set of power units for the new Toyota Venza crossover is like in Japan. Basic versions in China are equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.0 engine (171 hp) and a Direct Shift CVT, which has a “mechanical” first gear for starting off. These crossovers are exclusively front-wheel drive.

As an alternative, a hybrid system is proposed consisting of a 2.5 engine (178 hp), an electric unit (120 hp) and an electromechanical variator, and for an additional charge there will also be an E-Four all-wheel drive system with an additional electric motor at the rear axles (54 hp). Peak output – 218 hp the front-wheel drive hybrid and 222 hp. – at all-wheel drive. The novelty will appear on the Chinese market at the end of 2021.
