Toyota Gazoo Racing has unveiled the Supra sports coupe in the 35th Anniversary Edition. It is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the release of the first generation model. A total of 35 such machines are planned to be made, and you will have to fight for the right to buy them.
There are two modifications: the SZ-R with a 2.0-liter 258-horsepower petrol engine and the RZ with a 3.0-liter 387 horsepower engine. The drive for both versions is rear, the transmission is automatic.
For SZ-R, you can choose one of five body shades. Highlights include side mirror housings in black, brake calipers in red, pedal pads and a leather / Alcantara combination interior.
The RZ features Matte Storm Gray Metallic exterior color and unique burgundy leather seat upholstery. New systems include wireless charging for smartphones.
Both versions are equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels in matt black color and carbon fiber trim on the dashboard with the name of the special series.
For the SZ-R you will have to pay 6,535,000 yen (about 59,300 dollars at the current exchange rate), for the RZ – 7,835,000 yen (about 71,100 dollars), special versions are sold only in Japan. However, you won’t be able to simply pick up and buy the anniversary Supra. Until August 31, Toyota will accept applications, and on September 7, it will arrange a lottery. Its winners will be able to acquire a special version.
The current generation Toyota Supra J29 / DB has been in production since March 2019. The machine is manufactured at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz (Austria). The car is built on a common platform with the BMW Z4.
Recall that the first generation Toyota Supra (A70) has been produced since 1986. In July 2021, the company resumed production of the most scarce spare parts for this model.
