Toyota will cut car production by 40% this September due to a global shortage of automotive components.
Production disruptions will affect all key Toyota car markets, including Japan, the United States, Europe, China and Asia.
Toyota will release 360,000 units less than previously planned. So, in September 2021 in the US and Chinese markets, sales of Toyota cars will fall by about 80,000 units, while deliveries to Europe will decrease by about 40,000 cars.
The production cut will affect all 15 Toyota plants in Japan and 27 of the 28 production lines. The company will be missing approximately 140,000 units sold in the Japanese market next month.
According to the new forecast, Toyota will release about 900,000 cars in September 2021. This is approximately 100,000 less compared to the same month in 2020.
