Toyota will suspend production for 11 days in October 2021, the decision will affect 27 assembly lines out of 28 at all 14 factories in Japan.
The longest pause awaits Toyota Auto Body Yoshiwara Plant, which assembles Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX SUVs. Toyota Motor East Japan Iwate Plant (Aqua and C-HR) will stay for 9 days, Toyota Motor Takaoka Plant (Corolla, Corolla Touring and Corolla Cross) – for a day.
The revision of production plans is triggered by the electronics supply crisis and the new COVID-19 outbreak in Southeast Asia.
Note that the demand for Land Cruiser 300 around the world already exceeds supply, that is, a prolonged stop in the production of this model is very inappropriate for Toyota’s reputation. In the Japanese domestic market, the queues for the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 stretched out to four years.
Recall that earlier Toyota has disclosed the date of the premiere of the new Tundra pickup.
