The Japanese automaker has filed a US trademark application for the Trailhunter name. A new brutal SUV or pickup truck is expected to appear under this name.
The automaker submitted the documents on March 10, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office released them on March 13. Trademark documents do not contain additional information about Trailhunter. It is only specified that the name is assigned to the category “cars and their structural elements.” That being said, Toyota does not yet have applications for the Trailhunter name outside the US, indicating that the company intends to use it only for America. This could be the name of a special edition, modification, or new model.
At the 2020 Chicago Auto Show, Toyota unveiled the Trail Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner versions. They were fitted with off-road accessories such as a roof rack for an SUV or a lockable cargo hold for a pickup.
The Trailhunter can be serialized for the Trail line, adding even more off-road equipment. However, there are many other options. So, for example, Toyota has a new Land Cruiser on its way. It is not expected to go on sale in the United States until the second half of 2022, but the company may reserve the Trailhunter for a particularly powerful version of the SUV.
