Volkswagen has developed a new Sportline performance for the Transporter T6.1. The van received a set of visual improvements that stylistically make it akin to the Golf GTI hot hatch.
Such a van is based on the rich Highline equipment. At the front, the Sportline is distinguished by a bumper with large air intakes, linings and skirts are installed at the bottom of the body, and a small spoiler on the roof. Instead of standard wheels, 18-inch wheels are used, with disks of the original design. There is a thin red stripe in the grille.
The suspension is lowered by 30mm, which VW claims gives the Transporter Sportline more responsive handling than other members of the T6.1 family.
Interior photos have yet to be released, but upgraded Nappa leather and Alcantara leather seats, digital dashboard, climate control and touchscreen media system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been announced.
But the real sport in Transport T6.1 has not been added: the van is equipped with a quite standard 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel in a 204-horsepower version. The internal combustion engine is aggregated with a seven-speed “robot” DSG. However, even such a usual bundle for the Transporter endows it with quite good dynamics by the standards of the segment: the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h is only 8.9 seconds.
The Sportline trim level will be offered for both the cargo and passenger versions of the Transport, the wheelbase can be standard or extended. As the portal drom.ru specifies, prices in the UK (forecasted as the main sales market for this version) start at? 42 940.
