As of June 2021, 75 illegal gas stations were closed in the Zhytomyr region. This was discussed during a regular online meeting of the Center for the Elimination of Illegal Trade in Petroleum Products in the Region, the press service of the Regional State Administration reported.
Thus, according to the Department of Agroindustrial Development and Economic Policy of the Regional State Administration, in 2021, 416 objects were inspected in the Zhytomyr region, including:
- 75 petrol stations were closed,
- administrative minutes drawn up – 293,
- seized 32.016 tons of fuel – for 985.4 thousand UAH,
- orders were issued to eliminate violations – 414,
- equipment seized – for UAH 700 thousand,
- penalties were charged – for UAH 1.9 million.
Let us remind you that on behalf of Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, a campaign to combat the illegal market of oil products has been resumed in all regions of Ukraine. It was expected that a report on the work done by the regulatory authorities will be made in mid-April, but so far it has been postponed indefinitely. Meanwhile, according to experts and market participants, there were no visible changes in the operation of mini-refineries, illegal gas stations and cash-related schemes.
Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine there is a rapid expansion of the shadow market for oil products. This is manifested both in the growing volumes of production at mini-refineries and in the resumption of the activities of illegal filling stations.
The A-95 Consulting Group predicts that due to the illegal production of petroleum products at mini-refineries and tank farms, as well as violations of cash discipline at gas stations, the state budget of Ukraine in 2021 will receive less than UAH 22 billion of excise tax and VAT , or 21% more than in 2020.
