A rare lot has appeared at the Car and Classic online auction: a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Bordinates sedan owned by the American singer Elvis Presley. At the moment, the last bid per lot is only 11,250 euros – partly this can be explained by the fact that the car is not in the best condition, and its engine is out of order. However, so far only four bids have been received, and there are five days left until the end of trading.
Elvis Presley bought the Cadillac new in 1974, paying $ 12,512 for it – roughly $ 70,541 in current money. A couple of years later, the king of rock ‘n’ roll gave a sedan to his doctor, but both Presley himself and the doctor rarely drove a sedan: when the current owner bought it in 1985, the car’s odometer was only 2776 kilometers.
At the same time, the car was not treated very carefully, as evidenced by its condition. Outside, scuffs and dents are visible, and the interior trim is damaged even more: cracks have appeared on the door cards, dashboard and steering wheel. Only the soft seats upholstered in patterned velor are well preserved.
Fleetwood’s 8.2-liter V8 engine doesn’t work, but the seller claims it’s not a major malfunction, but a long downtime, so a little repair can bring it back to life.
The sedan has been put up for sale by a British auction house, but is located in Sweden, from where the seller will help to transport it if necessary. Together with the car, the buyer will receive a document confirming that it belonged to Presley. Bidding will end on January 15.
