The Korean brand has expanded the engine range of its compact cross-country in foreign markets. The new engine made the model more accessible, but this SUV is based on only the “mechanics” and front wheel drive.
SsangYong Tivoli crossover debuted at the end of 2014, and last year he survived the restyling, seriously redesigned both outside and inside. In addition, the model completely changed the engine range – the SUV has received new petrol “turboservice” 1.5 (163 HP, 280 Nm and 260 Nm 6МКП with 6АКП) and four-cylinder 1.6 diesel (136 HP, 300 Nm and 324 Nm 6МКП with 6АКП). Alas, at home the new clothes didn’t keep falling demand: according to the report, in 2019 in Korea was implemented 35 428 units, which is 19% lower than a year earlier. Exports also decreased, however, the redesigned cross managed to get still not all countries (in the past year to foreign markets sent 9431 car Tivoli, -36%). To spur interest designed a more affordable version with the new base engine. But it is curious that while this engine appeared only in SUV destined for Europe.
Generally, some of the “old-world” units of SsangYong has introduced a new engine in the price list at the beginning of may, but the company held an online presentation just the other day. So, in Europe, the Tivoli is now available and with petrol “Turbotronic” 1.2 that produces 128 HP and 230 Nm. In the release, the brand says nothing about the origin of the motor. It is possible that this engine was developed by Indian company Mahindra owns SsangYong. By the way, “turbotron” 1.2 have XUV300 Mahindra SUV, which is built on the Tivoli, however, it is the “Indian” weaker – 110 HP and 200 Nm.
SsangYong Tivoli with the 1.2 engine is offered only with six-speed “mechanics”, this cross is exclusively front-wheel drive, whereas for the SUV with the older engines you can select “automatic” Aisin or all-wheel drive.
In the list of equipment of the SUV with the base engine includes: front and side “airbag”, curtain airbags, automatic emergency braking, front collision prevention and warning about withdrawal from the occupied bandwidth, audio system, cruise control, air conditioning. Tivoli top-end petrol 1.5 diesel 1.6 based on led optics, a multimedia system with a large touchscreen, virtual “tidy”, rear view camera, climate control, monitoring system “blind” zones.
In Germany, for example, SsangYong Tivoli with “Turbotronic” is 15 490 euros, while for an SUV with “turboservice” 1.5 ask at least 16 490 euros. Diesel cross there is from 18 990 Euro.
Meanwhile, Tivoli still has the extended version – in Korea it is called Tivoli Air, and in other countries, this cross is known as the XLV. Now the stretched version is still not updated. With a home market of this modification is generally removed, but recently on the Korean roads caught disguised Tivoli Air/XLV: apparently, the company will present refreshed elongated SUV (but not the fact that he will return home).
