A non-fungible token (NFT) in the form of a car Nissan GT-R Nismo Special Edition was sold for $ 2.3 million at an auction organized by the Canadian division of the company. Details were reported by СarsCoops.
NFT, created by Canadian digital artist Alex McLeod, was exhibited at the RubiX Network premium site on September 23 with a reserved price of $ 220,000. The bid is equal to the cost of a real car and it is not surprising, because the winner of the auction received the keys to a real Nissan GT-R. It is noteworthy that the difference, which amounted to more than $ 2 million, was donated to charity.
The NFT will be stored on the RubiX blockchain and only the owner can access it. Representatives of the platform assure that password-free digital identification and unique QR codes will provide reliable protection, which will eliminate the need to use encryption keys.
The digital artwork shows the model in three virtual 3D environments, hinting at its “supernatural characteristics.” According to Alex McLeod, the car looks like a transport “from another world”, so he decided to convey this impression to people by showing the Nismo Special Edition “on the edge between the physical and the imaginary worlds.”
According to Carbuzz, the winner of the auction is registered under the name MackD. He should receive the car this fall – the purchase will be delivered to Canada after payment.
The Stealth Gray model features a carbon fiber hood and 20-inch Rays forged aluminum wheels. It is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 592 hp. (441 kW / 600 hp) and 652 Nm of torque, combined with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The next Nisan GT-R could be a hybrid, making the Nismo Special Edition even more valuable as the latest of its kind.
