Over the past three years, Volkswagen introduced a series of electric concept cars, demonstrating the future of its family of electric vehicles.
The first model, which will appear soon, is a compact hatchback ID.3, which is expected to debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September. After that, the German automaker will focus its efforts on the production of SUV ID Crozz – electric all-wheel drive SUV, which first appeared in 2017 as a demonstration of the prototype.
During the past winter season, VW tested the first mules ID Crozz in the back of the Tiguan with a slightly longer wheelbase. Now it’s time to see the production body electric SUV with a new set of spy photos taken in southern Europe.
The prototype is completely covered in camouflage tape, but it can’t hide the fact that the production model is slightly different from the concept. Let’s start with the fact that seen a prototype less like kupeobrazny crossover SUV: roof line less tilted, and the rear looks a lot easier, and sliding back door replaced with a normal one.
The front part is probably most similar in concept, although the headlights and the radiator grille is also reminiscent of ID.3. Dimensions ID Crozz a little more than the Tiguan with a short wheelbase, and smaller than the Tiguan Allspace, but its long wheelbase and electrical layout can make it more spacious inside.
As with all future Volkswagen electric vehicles, ID Crozz will be created on a modular platform MEB. It is expected that the model will offer a total capacity of 302 HP, which will be issued to two electric motors and a power reserve of the order of 483 km, and its outdoor battery pack will provide fast charging using a charger with a capacity of 150 kW, which will restore 80% capacity in 30 minutes.
