In 2021 Volkswagen will start selling in Europe, the new coupe-crossover, originally developed for South America
In 2021 Volkswagen will launch in Europe a new compact coupe-crossover, which was designed for the global market by the Brazilian subsidiary of the group. About it reports a press-service of the German automaker.
We are talking about a small crossover, which the company calls “the city’s new coupe” (New Urban Coupe). According to unofficial data, the model will be located one step below the T-Cross and will be called T-Sport. The basis of the SUV will form a modular platform, MQB-A0, which is based on the Polo hatchback new generation. The length of the car shall not exceed four meters with a wheelbase of 2560 millimeters.
Running the model on the Brazilian market is planned for spring of 2020. As expected, the engine range will include petrol turbo engine displacement of 1 liter capacity of 115 HP and a 1.6-liter atmospheric unit issuing 120 horsepower. The engines will be paired with five-speed “mechanics” or dedicated six “automatic”.
In Brazil, the coupe-crossover will establish at the enterprise Volkswagen in the municipality both Anchieta (state of espírito Santo). It is not excluded that the version for Europe will fall on the conveyor plant in Spanish Navarre, which produce the Polo hatchback.
