The Chinese company BYD Auto will bring to the market a new model – a subcompact electric hatchback Dolphin (Dolphin), its prototype under the EA1 index was demonstrated in April this year at the Shanghai Motor Show. Photos of the serial BYD Dolphin have been leaked through the base of the Ministry of Industry of China.
The car has a single-volume five-door body with a two-color paint scheme and a graphic separation of the top and bottom. The exterior is distinguished by deliberately complex plastic sidewalls and line combinations rhyming with each other. Full LED headlights and lights.
BYD Dolphin styling was created under the direction of Wolfgang Egger, the former chief designer of Audi, now in a similar position at BYD Auto.
The length, width and height of the new items are 4070, 1770 and 1570 mm, respectively, the wheelbase reaches 2700 mm. BYD Dolphin is a classmate of the Volkswagen ID.3, although the car from the Middle Kingdom is 191 mm shorter than the European one.
BYD Dolphin is based on the modular electrical platform E-Platform 3.0, presented in April this year. It is driven by a 95 hp synchronous electric motor located in front, it is capable of accelerating the car to 150 km / h. There is no information yet on the range, but the EA1 precursor concept presented at the auto show was equipped with an 800-volt battery.
