At the Shanghai International Auto Show, which will open to the public on the 20th of April, Volkswagen will unveil production versions of the ID.6 three-row electric crossover. This model is based on the concept ID. Roomzz, which debuted at the same show two years earlier.
The company has published teasers ID.6 X and ID.6 Crozz – these are two variations of the same car, which will be produced in China at different joint ventures of Volkswagen – with SAIC and FAW. The same factories are already producing the more compact ID.4 X and ID.4 Crozz.
Judging by the pictures, the older X and Crozz will differ, at least in lighting technology. The details on the darkened images cannot be discerned, but in fact, the design of ID.6 is no longer a secret: the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Informatization has already certified the novelty, so the “live” photos hit the Web back in early February.
Thanks to the same source, we know that the base Volkswagen ID.6 will receive one 204-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, that is, exactly the same power plant as that of the soplatform “four”. Top speed will also be limited to 160 km / h. Later, a 306-horsepower all-wheel drive SUV should appear, capable of developing 180 km / h. In addition, the dimensions ID.6 X are known: dimensions – 4876x1848x1680 mm, distance between axles – 2965 mm.
At first, the Volkswagen ID.6 will be an exclusively Chinese product for the home market, but the North American office of the brand does not exclude that over time, a three-row SUV on the MEB platform will appear in the United States. The next important addition to the Volkswagen ID family should be the ID minibus and van. Buzz: Coming out in 2022 and selling in America and Europe. At the same time, by the end of 2021, the VW ID.5 cross-coupe should also be added to the lineup.
