At the motor show in new Delhi, Volkswagen has introduced a new compact crossover Taigun. A car built specifically for the Indian market, is the “brother” of the European model T-Cross.
The car is built on the modular platform MQB with the prefix A0. It also underlies the Skoda Vision IN a compact crossover, which was presented at the same motor show earlier.
The Taigun was made in 2012, when Volkswagen presented the eponymous concept. Its length was only 3.85 meters, while the production version has considerably grown – up to 4.2 meters.
The wheelbase of a newcomer reaches of 2.65 meters. Crossover clearance at his size is quite impressive – 205 mm.
In the engine compartment, installed the same engine as the Skoda Vision IN a 1.5-liter “turboservice” capacity of 130 horsepower (from the Czech competitor, the figure a bit more, 150 HP) with cut-off cylinders at low loads. It is possible that in the future there will be a version with liter engine with three cylinders with a capacity of 115 HP, and the unit on natural gas.
Drive the novelty will be exclusively front, but the transmission can be selected: available six-speed mechanics and semidiapazonny “robot” DSG.
The public car show on 5 February, when the exhibition in new Delhi will open for visitors. Mass production is scheduled to start in 2021. Probably closer to the end of next year, the first copies will have Indian dealers.
