The German company is going to use the name GTX for a number of models with electric powertrains.
A new nomenclature for the Volkswagen brand opted for some of the models in the family ID, in particular, for a mass variation Crozz coupe, which likely will be called ID 5 GTX in its most productive variations. The name of the GTX will fit in the model range of the German mark, which also uses the name GTI, GTD and GTE for petrol, diesel and hybrid models oriented to power.
The Volkswagen did not say when the Corporation is going to release the debut of the GTX, but, according to Autocar, the creation of high-performance variations of ID 5 is at the research centre in Braunschweig, Germany, and probably it will present at the beginning of 2021-th.
As in the case with the existing models GTI, GTD and GTE, GTX range will vary from simple modifications to the appearance and interior design. Due to this, the model will get a sportier appearance.
Further changes will be focused on electric drives. The “X” in the GTX name allegedly stands for all-wheel drive, suggesting that in the future “charged” models of ID can be used 2 engine, one for the front wheels and one for the rear wheels.
Although the GTX is new name for Volkswagen, it is constantly used by General Motors and its subsidiaries, mainly to futuristic concept cars.
