The German automaker is preparing a new Talagon crossover, which could take the title of the brand’s largest crossover from the Teramont model.
The famous Volkswagen Teramont will very soon lose the title of the brand’s largest crossover, since an even larger car, the Volkswagen Talagon, was certified in China. The model is the production version of the Volkswagen SMV Concept show car, which will be released without major changes.
The new Talagon will be assembled at the FAW Volkswagen joint venture. The large Talagon and Teramont are based on the same chassis, and even have an identical 2,980 mm wheelbase, but the new one turned out to be slightly larger than the Teramont. Length – 5152 mm instead of 5039 mm for Teramont, width – 2002 mm against 1989 mm, and height – 1795 mm instead of 1773 mm. Unfortunately, no pictures of the three-row interior of the model have appeared yet, but we should not expect any revelations.
Talagon is certified with a 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine, which is also installed on the Chinese Teramont. In the basic version, the engine produces 186 hp. in combination with front-wheel drive, and the more productive 220-horsepower version will be equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission. Most likely, the crossover will also be offered with a 2.5-liter V6, which is also available at Teramont in China. The premiere of the new large crossover Talagon should take place in April this year.
