Volkswagen stopped sales of all-wheel drive Taos after customer complaints

Volkswagen has suspended sales of the all-wheel drive Taos following customer complaints. American buyers of crossovers with the 4Motion system faced an unexpected problem – after a stop, the engine can suddenly stall. A Volkswagen USA spokesman confirmed the defect and stated that North American dealers are aware of the malfunction, so the issuance and sale of all-wheel drive Taos has been stopped pending clarification.

In an interview with Automotive News, a Volkswagen spokesman made it clear that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will receive a report on the incident in due time. Probably, we are talking about agreeing on a service or recall campaign.

In North America, all-wheel drive Volkswagen Taos account for about 19 percent of sales, so most buyers won’t feel uncomfortable.
