Of intent to ignore the exhibition in Paris said the company Volkswagen – and even hinted at the reasons.
The French press calls the source of this well-known representative of the brand – Jurgen Stackmann responsible in the Board of Directors of the company for sales and marketing. He allegedly said the lack of plans to participate in the Paris motor show – 2019 at the meeting with journalists.
The exhibition is held in Paris every two years, alternating with the equally famous motor show in Frankfurt. However, the last event is steadily losing popularity: if in 2017 the show was visited by 810 thousand people, in the past, only 560 thousand. Apparently, VW is concerned about the possible development of this trend in connection with the motor show in Paris, and the lack of the public will not allow to justify the costs of participation, as a rule, very significant. Interestingly, in the exhibition of 2018, the Volkswagen brand is also not involved.
Note, we are not talking about the Volkswagen group, and about one particular brand. Accordingly, the chance of the appearance on the Parisian catwalks of new products, for example, from Audi, or Skoda still remains. But this statement was made just a few days after another fashion brand of the group spoke about the lack of participation in global motor show. Lamborghini recently announced he will skip the March show in Geneva. And Audi is seriously thinking about how to ignore the new York auto show.
Accordingly, more and more manufacturers do not give much importance of such global gatherings, preferring to arrange for demonstration of new individual events. It is not only cheaper but also saves the company from having to share the attention of visitors with its competitors.
