Volvo introduced its first electric crossover XC40 Recharge


The novelty is based on the popular compact Volvo XC40 cross. This green SUV will be the “firstborn” of a new family Recharge, which will include all-electric and hybrid cars.

Swedish company Volvo has decided not to lag behind other manufacturers and actively engaged in the electrification of its lineup. The first fully electric crossover of the brand will be called XC40 Recharge. It will be the debut model of the new family Recharge, which our portal said yesterday.

The future novelty, which is yet to win the favor of fans of the brand, has already begun to acquire important details. So, it became known that the XC40 Recharge will receive system of a full drive, a 408-horsepower electric powerplant and battery capacity of 78 kWh charge which is enough to drive more than 400 kilometers. This figure refers to the WLTP standard.


The novelty supports the so-called “rapid” charging, which allows it to replenish energy to 80 percent in just 40 minutes. Acceleration to “hundreds” of such electric crossover takes a mere 4.9 seconds.

In addition, Recharge XC40 will be the first model Volvo, Automotive equipped with Android OS with support updates over the air (OTA).

Recall that the word “Recharge”, which in English can be translated as “restart”/ “reload”, will serve as the umbrella name for all Volvo new car – a fully electric or hybrid.
