Owners of the all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV will soon be able to optimize their vehicle’s range with the new built-in Range Assistant app. The application was released in beta version as part of a remote software update for Volvo cars with a media system based on Android Automotive OS.
The program allows you to optimize energy consumption through intelligent energy management and recommendations for driving style in terms of efficiency. This will be due to improvements in battery management algorithms and recuperation performance, as well as an optimized timer for battery pre-conditioning.
Range Assistant can also automatically adjust the climate system to increase the range. This feature is especially useful on longer journeys as it reduces the need for charging stops. Volvo Cars plans to introduce some additional functions in future versions of the application. Among them: easy-to-follow recommendations for adjusting driving style and speed.
The app will be downloaded over the air as part of upcoming software updates for the XC40 Recharge crossover and will be installed from the start of production on the new C40 Recharge electric car.
Recall that the XC40 Recharge is Volvo’s first production electric car. The crossover is equipped with two electric motors of the same power (one on each axle) and a 78 kWh traction battery. The total output of the installation is 408 hp. and 660 Nm. The declared power reserve in the WLTP cycle is 400 km. Volvo C40 Recharge is a coupe-like crossover based on the “regular” XC40. It has the same power filling, but the range is 20 km longer due to better aerodynamics.
