The Indian division of Volkswagen has published a teaser of the serial crossover Taigun, which will compete with the Hyundai Creta. The premiere of the car should take place in the near future, and its sales will start before the end of this year.
Judging by the image, the production car will turn out to be the same as the concept car of the same name, presented at the Delhi motor show in February 2020. The car will be based on the scalable mqb-A0-IN architecture – an upgraded version of the mqb-A0 modular platform for” Junior ” models of the Volkswagen group.
The length of the crossover will be about 4.2 m, and the size of the wheelbase will be 2.65 meters. The car will receive a specially tuned suspension, adapted to the features of Indian roads. Ground clearance should exceed 200 millimeters.
Volkswagen Taigun will share the main components and assemblies with the new Skoda crossover for the Indian market, which will premiere in March 2021. According to preliminary data, the range of engines of both models will include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with a capacity of 115 HP, as well as a 1.5-liter “turbo four”, producing 150 horsepower.
The first engine will work together with a six-speed manual transmission, or with an automatic transmission of the same range. A more powerful engine will be combined with a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches.
Prices for the Volkswagen Taigun will start at approximately 1 million rupees, which is equivalent to about $ 13,600.
